Rylies Lions
Rylie was just introduced to The Wizard of Oz. She LOVES the movie. And why wouldn't she? It has a talking lion, a dog, monkeys, and music! She is even enthralled with the wicked witch that, in her words, "fly around and around."
If any of you have been around her in the past year, she probably pretended to see a lion or at least a tiger. Daily she talks about the lions, either pretend, the zoo, or Disney Land. Some lions are nice, "Lion tickling me."
Other lions are mean, "Lion coming to get me."
And some are just hungry "Lion eat my food, mommy."
So, this morning during breakfast Rylie said to Ryan and I, "Lion coming."
"Really, where?" I asked.
"Over dere" She points to the stairs, "don't worry, Mommy, Daddy, I protect you."
A little later Rylie picks up the phone. "Hello witch. Oh, you sad. OK talk to you later."
"Why is the witch sad?" I asked.
"Because, her Daddy at work."
While drinking her hot chocolate, "chocolate in my mouf(mouth), in my tummy, in my diaper!" This excellent explanation of the digestive tract came from Jeremy Zavoral last weekend.
It is so amazing what she remembers.Too funny.

Island Getaway for a Day!
That's right, Ry and I jumped on a boat to Catalina Island Friday night. This is our first overnight escape since Rylie was born two years and seven months ago. But, whose counting=). Just Kidding, we did escape overnight when the twins were born, but that can't possibly count. I wouldn't call delivering twins naturally a getaway! This escape was only possible thanks to our saintly friends, the Zavoral's! Yes. they took on the triple trouble overnight. It went smoothly too. Rylie usually cries just about every time she realizes Mommy isn't within a ten foot radius, but this time she was fine. She even called on the phone and didn't have an emotional breakdown. I think it is due to the consistency that Sarah Lynn offers our family by nannying two days a week and her husband's presence. Rylie's world is her Daddy and I think it helped to have another kind daddy figure around. THANK YOU Zavorals for your bravery and hard work!
The island's town is only a square mile, so all of the beach houses are stacked close to each other and up the mountain side. The rest of the Island is owned by a conservation group. The land is full of wildlife.
Behind Ryan, you can see all of the smoke coming from over on the mainland due to another huge California fire.
All of you Millard High School, Bio-tour fans, this is the view of CIMI from the mountain road. Below are Catalina's Bison.
The trip was a perfect rejuvenation time. Although, I'll have to admit that at times I didn't know what to do with myself, particularly when it didn't take thirty minutes just to get loaded up in the car. It was wonderful to eat great food, tour the island, and just be with my hubby.

Proposition 8 - made simple
please read the following blog entry. It goes with the video. I have had many questions about prop 8, now that so much attention is on the LDS Church.

Proposition 8 - made simple again
Yes, I do have mommy brain, but I know,Proposition 8 already passed. Thank Heaven! I just feel that there are still a lot of people who have yet to really taken the time to educate themselves on the issue. I like this video because it seems to simplify everything. I believe this issue so sensitive because it plays on everyones emotions. There wasn't one door that I knocked on and found a non supporter, that didn't have a good heart and want the best for everyone. For example, Ryan and I would hear, "wouldn't you want to be treated the same from the government, with the same tax deductions as a married couple?" "Yes" we would answer. Then gladly explain how in the state of California domestic couples ALREADY get those benefits. If I have learned anything, it is to educate myself on issues, before becoming passionate about them. I am grateful to be in California at this time in my life. I am proud to work for a better future for my family. I am honored to stand up for the Lords eternal plan for the family. The journey in support of prop 8 was a long one, and I wish I had better documentation of the pre-election events, but for now these pics will have to do. I love you all and if you want to learn more visit http://www.preservingmarriage.org/.
Look down the street. Supporters for proposition 8 were lined up for miles along the Pacific Coast Highway. We did this at a time when all of our proposition 8 signs were being stolen, many were taken directly off of peoples own front lawns. We had to hold it to show it!

Rylies cute moments
I am going to start blogging more of the funny little things Rylie says and does. Hopefully, you all find it as entertaining as I do.
This morning I was making hot chocolate for Rylie and I felt the water and noticed it was still cold. So I said, "ah-oh, we don't want cold chocolate" and Rylie said, "yes, I do want cold, hot chocolate, mommy."
Yesterday, I petaled all three girls on my bike to the park. If you are wondering how I could possibly bike three babies, take a look at the picture of my set up. I have a baby seat by my handle bars for Rylie and a double baby trailer in the back. It's a great workout, I could barely walk when I returned home! Anyway, I had Brielle and Zoey on the lawn with me, but no matter how hard I tried, Rylie would not step foot onto the grass. Finally after a few minutes of asking Rylie to come and play with us, she finally said, "mommy, no there is poopies." I looked down at the lawn and noticed that you could see the dirt between the grass. "oh, that's just the dirt, it is OK to walk on." But, that wasn't convincing enough because I still had to pick her up and hold her because she insisted, "dat (that) dirty, pew wee (picture her holding her nose)!" It was funny, but when one child is on my lap they all want to be there. We quickly moved on to the swings and slide. It was great post-election day!
Crawling Video
I finally put the crawling video back on the blog. It is my first blog, so if you want to view it scroll down and click on the video box.
HB's Costume Contest Winners!
The Nilsson flock took it all! We weren't even planning on entering the contest, but just happened to show up at the right time. There were a lot of cute baby costumes and one lamby is cute, but you can't beat the shock factor of three! For once, standing out in the crowd has payed off, literally, we won a fifty dollar certificate and are supposed to be on HB's local television station. It was a fun Halloween on Huntington Beach's Main Street. Adults and children were dressed up, free rides, petting zoo, and the local vendors were giving out candy. It was a good break for Lil' Bo Peep.

Mommy Brain
For those of you who aren't familiar with the mind-numbing disease called Mommy Brain, let me enlighten you=).Mommy brain, is caused by lack of sleep, or extremely disrupted sleep for several months in a row, followed by a high dose of post natal hormones, and an excessive amount of whining and crying heard throughout the day. The signs and symptoms include, delayed response to any adult conversation, difficulty communicating with someone over 2 years of age, slight jealousy when your husband gets home from the Laker's game and notifies you he sat next to Leonardo DiCaprio while you spent two hours trying to get teething twins to sleep, sleep loss headache, abnormally large biceps from hauling babies around, inability to get anything accomplished for yourself, and others may perceive you as completely insane when they see you pushing a shopping cart while pulling a stroller at the same time, and finally you gain an overwhelmingly non judgemental attitude for any other parent experiencing the same symptoms!
Yes, the last few days have a been a little crazy. But, before I talk about our busy week, I have good news! Thanks to my sweet friend and nanny Sarah Lynn, I was able to take a nap today. Thus, there is hope for this devastating disease. My biggest hope is to one day sleep the whole night through without interruption. But, for now the best things for me entail a few good giggles from Rylie, some cuttles from Zoey, Brielle bopping to the beat of music, and time to laugh with Ryan. I just hope my mommy brain doesn't keep me from remembering as much as I'd like, I guess that's why amidst all of this craziness I am trying to blog.

I couldn't help but laugh today when I found Rylie with her baby, all ready for swim lessons! I just regret not getting a behind photo of her pink ruffles to go with mom's fuzzy socks!
